Le Petit Bleu Pour Deux, a rural Breton gite for 2

For rural tranquillity, Le Petit Bleu provides such a haven; being set in 4 acres of beautiful gardens, paddock and fields. Situated near Le Mont St Michel on the Brittany/Normandy border, in verdant countryside, it is ideally placed for exploration to both inland and coastal France.

Le Petit Bleu was once a farmworker's cottage in the grounds of the farm at La Grande Tournicotière, but it has now been renovated to provide comfortable accommodation in which to relax and escape the stresses of 'modern' life.

Like many farms in this area, Breton cider was once made here and the large 'barriques' used up until about 10 years ago for storing the cider, are now used to conserve rainwater for watering the hundreds of plants that make up the gardens here. The owners are passionate gardeners and have created 'rooms' in which to relax and wander. A few ancient cider apple trees still remain in the orchards where ferns and hellebores have been planted to make the most of the shade their branches provide. Fields have been transformed into long English perennial borders, a formal topiaried yew and box square, a pond brimming with wildlife, a herb garden, an abundant 'potager' supplying fresh fruit and vegetables all year round and a gravelled area of terracotta pots overflowing with grasses - in fact it is a gardener's paradise to enjoy without having to lift a finger!

There are many gardens in this area to visit too but during the month of June, St. Georges de Reintembault joins the rest of France in 'Bienvenue dans mon Jardin' where many amateur gardeners open their 'gates' as well - Le Petit Bleu included!  Why not join them in enjoying the flora of this area of France?
